SCS Family Survey Results are In!

SCS Crew: River, Mr. B., Geoffrey, Walter, Maggie, Jette & Mr. G. We have heard back from 28% of our  families, and all have given a thumbs up for their child’s skiing or snowboarding experience.  Parents have appreciated the opportunity for nearly the entire school to participate (not an option for Pre-K @ Middlebury unfortunately). Families also appreciate that there is an option for snowboarding, nordic, or alpine skiing for older students, and that rentals are included in the price.   Comments have included “Fantastic!”, “Perfect,” “Love it as is,” “A wonderful idea,” and “Awesome!!!” “Getting the kids outside in the winter is very important.”  “This is a great way to learn or just practice.” “My child has enjoyed the experience as I can’t afford something like this.”  “I was very pleased to see the level of instruction the kids are getting.”  “My kids have had an amazing time and have had nothing but good things to say about all adults involved!” &quo

Winter Wellness: Nordic Skiing

This week SCS enjoyed our 5th Winter Wellness day in Middlebury.  Nordic skiers have been giving two thumbs up for their experiences, commenting, “Awesome!” “I had a good day.” “I love skiing!”   ~ Nordic skiers enjoy their time on the snow. ~ We also enjoyed an apres ski lunch and recess time with new and familiar friends at Rochester School.   Thank you to the families who responded to our winter wellness program survey.  We are interested in hearing from more of you, so please send in your survey and have your voice be heard.  To date, families have overwhelmingly expressed how much their child(ren) are enjoying the program and their hope we will continue offering a whole school ski/snowboard program next year.  Oh yeah! x

Stockbridge School Skis & Snowboards in Middlebury!

This was the fourth week our school has participated in nordic skiing at the Rikert Ski Center and alpine skiing & snowboarding at Middlebury SnowBowl.   By 9:20am all SCS students at the SnowBowl were starting their day at the chairlift!  With fresh snow, conditions were ideal and students had a blast improving their skills and enjoying the wintry day with our school family. Did you know about 40% of our students have learned to alpine ski or snowboard through this program this year?  Many students have also experienced a chairlift for the very first time in these past 2 weeks.  :) SCS teachers and school nurse, Jane Glick, have been thrilled with the level of care and attention our students have been receiving from SnowBowl and Rikert staff.  Novice skiers and snowboarders have been getting 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 attention as needed.  Ms. King, Mr. B, and PE teacher Mr. G (Grimes) as well as the SnowBowl instructors are skiing and snowboarding with small groups of stud
